Candy Egg and I ventured into the tangled maze of Viridian Forest. The dense foliage loomed overhead, casting shadows that danced around us as we trudged deeper into the wilderness.
Before long, we encountered our first challenge: a group of bug-catching enthusiasts, their oversized glasses glinting in the sunlight as they eagerly brandished their nets.
“Prepare to be bug-eyed by our Bug Pokémon!” one of them exclaimed, his voice cracking with enthusiasm.
I stifled a chuckle as Candy Egg and I squared off against the nerdy bug catchers. With a determined flick of her tail, Candy Egg leaped into action, sending powerful Water Gun attacks flying towards the bewildered Bug-type Pokémon.
Despite their best efforts, the bug catchers were no match for Candy Egg. With a victorious cheer, we emerged from the skirmish unscathed, though not without a few comedic missteps along the way.
As we continued our journey through the forest, Candy Egg’s curiosity got the better of her, leading her to nibble on a brightly colored bug that she mistook for a tasty treat. The bug turned out to be a poisonous Weedle, leaving poor Candy Egg with a grumbling tummy ache.
“Looks like you’ve bitten off more than you can chew, Candy Egg,” I quipped, patting her on the head sympathetically.
After administering an Antidote and some words of encouragement, Candy Egg’s condition improved, and we resumed our trek through the forest, albeit with a newfound sense of caution for what we put in our mouths.
As we approached the exit of the forest, our path was blocked by an unexpected encounter in the form of two bug Pokémon trainers locked in an intense showdown, their Metapods standing rigidly opposite each other as they awaited commands.
“Mine’s bigger!” one trainer boasted, puffing out his chest with pride.
“Not so fast! You haven’t even seen mine Harden yet!” the other countered, a competitive glint in his eye.
I couldn’t help but stifle a laugh as Candy Egg and I watched the absurd spectacle unfold before us. It was a battle of epic proportions, albeit one that seemed to be at a stalemate as the two trainers continued to argue over the superiority of their respective Metapods.
“If you two nerds are about done comparing sizes, mind letting us through?” I quipped.
“Ack! A girl!” yelped one of the boys. The two scrambled to recall their Pokemon and scuttled away, clearly embarrassed.
“Well, that was… something,” I thought to myself. Candy Egg and I journeyed onward towards Pewter City, happy to put the creepy bug forest behind us. Our next stop was Pewter Gym, and we were ready to test our mettle against the first hurdle of the Pokemon League.
